ASUS A53E-AS52 15.6-Inch Laptop Review Great laptop for Linux and Windows I have owned five or six laptops over the years. This one is clearly both the best one I have ever owned and also the cheapest. This laptop is well designed and attractive. I bought it to run Linux. My far more expensive 17" Samsung laptop did not have proper Linux drivers available and it dropped off-line constantly when running Linux but not Windows. Sometimes it dropped off-line as many as four or five times in one minute. This Asus laptop works perfectly in both Windows and Linux under the same LAN.
Linux is a wonderful operating system with far more versatility than either Apple or Microsoft operating systems but its one problem is lack of available device drivers. Asus has taken care to use components compatible with Linux with readily available device drivers. The only tiny problem I experienced with this Asus laptop was one very tight USB port. After inserting and removing USB cables several times it loosened up and behaved normally. It has three USB ports. One more would have been nice. I always use a mouse for one USB port and keep a large storage card in one USB port to backup critical files leaving only one unused USB port. My Samsung has four USB ports but it is a much larger laptop.

In the future I will look to Asus first for computers as long as they continue to support Linux this well. This computer proves that sometimes a cheaper product is also a better product.
