HP g7-1310us Review Perfect for my needs, I ordered a higher-priced Toshiba, but Amazon had supply problems. Then, because I work from home for the U.S. government (due to a spinal cord injury) and need a back-up computer in case there's a meltdown on my ASUS laptop (not that I expect that), I went with the HP g7-1310us based on many positive and helpfully intelligent reviews.
I received exactly what I expected. And the price was ridiculously low. I did appreciate that the HP had an old-fashioned CD RW drive -- okay, at age 66 I'm still linked to that, but at least I've gotten beyond floppy drives.
The large screen is amazing. I don't know why anyone would ever buy a desktop computer again. Sure, it's not fabulous as a portable, but my (similar) ASUS was invaluable when I was hospitalized for two weeks. You can spend twice as much money for one of the new "ultra-books" if you are ultra-mobile, but this machine is a deal for most people!
Okay, I miss the LED-lighted keyboard of the ASUS; but I'm sure the next-gen HPs will have that as standard equipment. And I'm expecting a large capacity non-spinning HD when I need to buy again.
